THEBIGEAR
THEBIGEAR is a project coordinated by Francesco Michi
We intend to build an imaginary soundscape, imagining to have such a powerful ear that can perceive sounds coming from an endless acoustic horizon (click on "the project" for more).
Everyone can participate to the project… we are only asking you to describe the sounds you are hearing in this very moment exactly where you are… sounds in the room where you and your computer are, coming from the other rooms of your house, or from the outside, from the city or the countryside (to send your contribution click on "to participate").
AN IMAGINARY SOUNDSCAPE
My computer keyboard clicks. My nails are too long and it causes a double ricochet as I write. The small and tinny speakers that sit like ears on my monitor are spilling out drum and bass. It is Fabio and Grooverider on Radio 1, Saturday 14th June. the DJ filters in over a high hat, repeatedly pulsing.The bass kicks in but there is no depth , the speakers suppressing the sound.In the room next door there is a dinner party. Ocasionally a laugh or the sounds of the table being cleared appear behind my typing and the music. I can hear a woman and she is moving across the kitchen, talking. The food is being served and I can hear the plates being put down on the tables and extra cutlery being retrieved from the drawer.My mouse clicks as I check my typing.
