THEBIGEAR
THEBIGEAR is a project coordinated by Francesco Michi
We intend to build an imaginary soundscape, imagining to have such a powerful ear that can perceive sounds coming from an endless acoustic horizon (click on "the project" for more).
Everyone can participate to the project… we are only asking you to describe the sounds you are hearing in this very moment exactly where you are… sounds in the room where you and your computer are, coming from the other rooms of your house, or from the outside, from the city or the countryside (to send your contribution click on "to participate").

AN IMAGINARY SOUNDSCAPE

The cars I hear from my window seem to have become less obtrusive than in the past - or is it just an impression? I live not far from a hospital, so ambulance sirens are a frequent component of the soundscape, also just now one passed. In the next room my wife is listening - intermittently - to Mahler's Fifth (she starts and stops), between the Mahler fragments some chopping from the kitchen. And of course, many motorbikes.

Regarding the motorbikes: they seem to be much more present when I only hear them; when I walk along the streets around the house I never have the impression that there are so many.
